YouTube Laying Off 100 Members of Creator Partnerships Team

  • YouTube is undergoing a major “restructing”, with changes to creator management and operations teams, resulting in around 100 roles being eliminated— including youtube parters.

  • This was expected, but still a surporse. The reorganization is following a strategy outlined by Mary Ellen Coe, YouTube's chief business officer, who took over in early 2023.

  • What does this man ? Content creator management teams will be centralized in each individual country, aiming to better support creators and scale core, country-specific teams.

  • How doest this affect creators? YouTube is consolidating music teams into a global force reporting to Google/YouTube's head of music and combining various sports, media, film, and TV teams into a single global team.

  • What next? The support team is being split into creator-facing and customer/user-facing teams to provide more specialized support and streamline YouTube's business as it handles a growing creator base and new technologies.
